Meet Marcy Kniffin, LCSW-R, RMT

Marcy is a New York State Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 20 years’ experience. She received her Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from Fordham University and her Bachelor of Arts degree (BA) from Mt. St. Mary College, both Summa Cum Laude. She completed her post-graduate studies at Institute for the Family in Princeton Junction, NJ, studying under world-renown child and adolescent psychiatrist, H. Charles Fishman, MD. In 2008, she became one of the first four therapists internationally to be designated a Master Practitioner of Mind/Body Therapies from the National Institute for the Clinical Application of Behavioral Medicine. She is also a Reiki Master/Teacher in the Usui tradition.

Her journey into holistic therapies began with a serious family illness in 1981. Marcy’s search for other options brought her to the then new field of psychoneuroimmunology. It was her introduction to guided imagery, visualization and the importance of nutrition and stress-reduction. Since then, Marcy has continued to study and use several aspects of complementary and alternative practices.

Marcy’s traditional work experience includes alcoholism treatment, family therapy, public health, hospice, school social work, Employee Assistance Programs and undergraduate and corporate teaching.
